Effect of Particle Size on the Bioaccessibility of Progesterone from LoxOral in an In Vitro Dynamic Gastrointestinal System

چکیده
Introduction: Hormonal replacement therapy (HRT) has been used extensively to treat the symptoms caused by decreased estrogen production following menopause, which can include vasomotor symptoms, urogenital atrophy, and mood or sleep disturbances (Ryan & Rosner, 2001). Estrogen therapy is frequently used in HRT and its pro-proliferative effects on the endometrium are counterbalanced by the use of progesterone, which is known to modulate the growthstimulatory effects of estrogen (Yang et al., 2011). Results from the Postmenopausal Estrogen/Progestin Interventions (PEPI) trial recommend that oral micronized progesterone be the first choice for estradiol opposing therapy in postmenopausal women (Miller et al., 1995; Barret-Connor et al., 1997).

متن کاملParticle size effects on bioaccessible amounts of ingestible soil-borne toxic elements.
The unified BARGE method was used to examine the effects of soil particle size on the bioaccessible amounts of potentially toxic elements in multi-contaminated soils from a closed landfill site. The results show that bioaccessible As, Al, Cd, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn increased with decreasing soil particle size and the <0.002 mm soil fraction contained much greater amounts of the bioaccessible...
متن کاملFabrication and in vitro evaluation of Ketotifen Fumarate-loaded PLGA nanoparticles as a sustained delivery system
Abstract Ketotifen fumarate is a non-bronchodilator anti-asthmatic drug which inhibits the effects of certain endogenous substances known to be inflammatory mediators, and thereby exerts antiallergic activity. The present study describes the formulation of a sustained release nanoparticle (NP) drug delivery system containing ketotifen, using poly (D,L lactide-co-glycolide acid) (PLGA). Biodegra...
متن کاملEvaluation of Nano and Microcapsules of Silymarin in Simulated Gastrointestinal Conditions for Animal Target Delivery
The main goal of this research was to compare the in vitro release rates of nano- and microcapsules of Silybum marianum extract (SME) in animal simulated gastric and intestinal medium conditions. The extract was encapsulated within sodium alginate carriers using emulsification/internal gelation method. Particle size, zeta potential, polydispersity index (PDI) and morphology of...
